IN RWANDA FOOTBALL, PRESIDENT KAGAME TAKES A STAND AGAINST WITCHCRAFT

During the “Ask the President” session with the Rwanda Broadcasting Agency (RBA) on Tuesday, July 4, President Paul Kagame highlighted that significant measures would be taken to address issues with Rwandan football, such as witchcraft, irresponsibility, and corruption.

The development of football and players, according to Kagame, should be the top priorities. He admitted that certain people—especially coaches—engage in unethical behavior like magic tricks and referee exploitation.

The first issue that needs to be addressed, he continued, is when you discover people using witchcraft or bribery instead of receiving sufficient instruction.

Therefore, despite the fact that the nation makes significant investments in both the sports industry and these national teams, he promised to address the problem of the national teams’ bad performance. President Kagame pledged to focus his attention and efforts on addressing these problems.

In the interview, Kagame also made the point that anyone acting indecently should be prepared to face the consequences and that once he steps in, there would be no space for excuses because sports are a national activity that has an impact on all people’ lives.

He emphasized the programs that had started to promote sports, particularly football, and that gave kids the chance to train by setting up camps with the required amenities and equipment.
