In a rocket attack on Lviv, Russia, three people died

According to the local mayor, a Russian missile struck an apartment building in the city of Lviv in western Ukraine, killing at least three people.

Andriy Sadovyi claimed that “one of the biggest attacks” on the civic infrastructure of Lviv resulted in eight further injuries, one of which was serious.

In response to the attack by “Russian terrorists” overnight, President Volodymyr Zelensky promised a “tangible” response.

The purported strike has not been addressed by the Russian military.

A video that Mr. Sadovyi posted showed the building’s damaged windows, which seemed to have four levels. In the video, there were also damaged cars and debris.

The mayor made a brief video message in which he stated that “many apartments are damaged—more than 50.”

About 50 cars were also wrecked, he added.

Two victims, according to Mr. Sadovyi, were just retrieved from the debris, but rescue workers were still looking for other people out of concern that they might still be there.

After the extent of the destruction became more apparent, the mayor later filmed a new video speech.

He claimed that several building roofs had been lost, and that a school and the dorms at the polytechnic institution had also suffered damage.

Maksym Kozytskyi, the regional governor of Lviv, reported that a “critical infrastructure facility” had been hit in the city. He said nothing further.

According to Mr. Kozytskyi, Russia’s “primary objective is the elimination of the Ukrainian people… But we’ll prevail.

Russia has been attacking Ukrainian towns with lethal drone and missile attacks for months, frequently hitting civilian targets and resulting in widespread blackouts.

13 people, including children, were recently killed in a restaurant and shopping center attack in Kramatorsk, a city in eastern Ukraine close to Russian-occupied territory.

Lviv has also experienced Russian assaults, despite being hundreds of kilometers from the main fighting lines in the east and south of Ukraine.

Officials in Lviv reported on June 20 that a drone strike had harmed the city’s crucial infrastructure.
