The Nyarugenge Intermediate Court has set a date for the announcement of the final judgment in the well-known case involving Titi Brown, Thierry Ishimwe, who is accused of defilment, and who is a well-known dancer.
November 10 has been announced as the verdict date.
The defense team’s request for a closed-door trial garnered attention for the case right away. This request resulted from worries that the accused, a prominent figure in the entertainment business, was frequently receiving media attention, which led to events like the victim’s identity being made public.
The prosecution presented additional evidence during the most recent court proceedings, including a video showing the claimed victim and Ishimwe together in the dancer’s living room.
Ishimwe, however, insisted that he had never seen this film and contended that it may have been altered to falsely implicate him or taken without his permission.
In addition, the prosecution provided a psychological assessment done by a qualified professional psychologist that showed the victim had developed depression as a result of the event. Ishimwe’s defense responded by contesting the report’s veracity and arguing that it should be discounted because it was completed years after the events.
The relatives of the victim was ordered to pay compensation by Ishimwe’s attorneys. Ishimwe’s monthly income was believed to be around Rwf 2 million, so the defense requested Rwf 44 million as compensation for whatever earnings he may have made after his detention.
Prior to the victim having the abortion, a DNA sample was taken in order to compare it to Ishimwe’s DNA, according to the prosecution. The medical report did, however, disclose a discrepancy—there was no match between the two DNA samples—which was made clear throughout the trial.
Thierry Ishimwe maintained his innocence throughout the trial, arguing that the girl had only been to his home to look at a dance school he was getting ready to open. He insisted that she never entered his home, and he rejected any claims that he had sexually assaulted her or was to blame for her pregnancy.
Since 2021, Thierry Ishimwe has been in custody after being accused of sexual assault and having an unplanned pregnancy with a 17-year-old girl. She had an abortion since she was a minor, it was discovered later.
Ishimwe was well-known in the music and entertainment industries prior to his incarceration. He was well-known for his contributions to choreography in the industry and appeared in many music videos.
The court case involving Titi Brown’s defilement case is anticipated to come to an end on November 10 with the announcement of the final judgment bringing clarity and finality to a matter that has drawn widespread attention.
