Muhadjiri Hakizimana, a midfielder for Police Football Club, has signed a one-year contract extension that would keep him at the club until the summer of 2024.
Hakizimana’s current contract at Police FC expires at the end of this month; he joined the team on a six-month agreement in January 2023 from Saudi Arabia’s second-tier club Al-Kholood.
The contract was extended after the 28-year-old contributed to his club’s performance in the recently concluded 2022/23 season, in which he scored three goals despite only participating in the Rwanda National League’s second leg and missing some games due to illness.
He also helped the club win the 2023 Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) title after defeating Rukinzo FC of Burundi on penalties 5-4 on penalties, as well as placing sixth in the Rwanda National League 2022/23 season with 47 points.
According to reports, Police FC offered Hakizimana Rwf15 million to sign the new contract.
