Five civilians are killed by Al-Shabaab insurgents in Kenya’s coastal area.

Five Kenyans were killed and houses were set on fire as al-Shabaab terrorists attacked two communities in Kenya’s coastal county of Lamu on Saturday evening, according to police and witnesses.

According to police and witnesses, the attackers attacked the villages on Saturday about 7:30 p.m., took the victims from their homes, and bound their hands and legs behind their backs before murdering them.

The victims of the Saturday night attack on Salama and Juhudi villages, according to the police report, are all men, including a student. According to witnesses, the student had returned home for a half-term break.

According to authorities, a group of approximately 30 men dressed in military attire and equipped with firearms, machetes, and knives struck early in the evening. They then ordered everyone in the room to lie down and not raise an alarm as they escorted women to other rooms and eventually released them.

The perpetrators murdered the five men and took food, chicken, and goats before torching a store. “The assailants fled toward the forest,” police stated.

Security forces went to the site, according to Lamu County Commissioner Louis Rono, but no arrests were made.

Lamu County has been in the spotlight for several years as a result of increased savage attacks by al-Shabaab militants, which have killed hundreds of security officers and civilians.
