This was disclosed by President Tshisekedi on Thursday during an interview with France 24.
Tshisekedi also declared that he had given the Congolese assurances that M23 would never be able to take the city of GOMA and that the organization was moving closer to the front lines of the conflict.
Felix Tshisekedi, the president of the Democratic Republic of Congo, declared that his nation will opt to defend itself in the event that the international community takes its time intervening to punish Rwanda for backing the M23 movement.
“We have repeatedly appealed to the world to come to Rwanda’s aid to M23, but if that is delayed, we will defend ourselves,” President Félix Tshisekedi said to France 24. To defend our people and ourselves, we shall employ all available methods.”
The President of the Republic of Congo charged Rwanda with being one of the M23 group’s leaders during that interview.
According to him, M23 is a component of the RDF, and they have unshakeable proof of that.
He gave the other Congolese comfort by telling them not to worry, Goma City will not tolerate being overrun by M23 forces under any circumstances.
Says President Tshisekedi: “Goma will not be taken over by M23. They have to forget dreaming. We’ll push them back, so they won’t take Goma.”
Felix Tshisekedi also discussed the Wazalendo situation, which said to be involved a group of citizens who armed themselves to protect their rights.
”They defend their families and love their country,” he said.
It’s anticipated that combat will cease in Rutshuru, Masisi, and Nyiragongo this Thursday.
