Ariel Wayz discusses his concert performance, future ambitions, and upcoming album.

Ariel Wayz, an afro-fusion musician, singer, and composer, spoke exclusively to The New Times about her performance at the Amstel and Friends Fest, as well as her future aspirations in the music industry.

Grateful for the opportunity, she began by thanking the organizers for putting on a great event and offering a platform for Rwandan artists.

Wayz emphasized the need for stronger preparations in the future when reflecting on the event arrangement. She mentioned a technical malfunction that delayed Nigerian musician Johnny Drille’s performance, saying, “As you saw, we had to adapt, but this highlights the importance of proper preparations for the next time.”

She emphasized the need of high-quality sound equipment at concerts. Wayz stressed that superior equipment ensures that the sound produced during a performance matches the sound created during rehearsal.

She explained, “The delay in Johnny Drille’s set, as I mentioned, was due to the fact that he had done a sound check prior to the show, but when he reached the stage, the sound sounded different.”

Wayz then turned her attention to her own music career, addressing the long-awaited release of her album. She stated that she intends to release multiple singles with featured musicians prior to releasing the album. “This summer, I will be releasing the said singles, and perhaps after that, I will provide more details about the album,” she hinted.

When asked about the album’s name and inspiration, as well as the artists with whom she cooperated, Wayz intended to keep some things a surprise for her fans. “I can’t reveal the name at the moment, as it would spoil the excitement,” she said of the album’s international appeal. I can tell you, however, that the record includes collaborations with international stars that will undoubtedly boost my craft.”
